Madagascar

"Madagascar amazing scenery & culture around Indian Ocean Islands."

WHY YOU SHOULD TRAVEL

Madagascar

Lemurs, lemurs, lemurs! They are the country’s most notable hallmark, particularly the black and white ring-tailed ‘Lemur Catta’. However, there are over 60 species throughout the island, and these mammals are classified as an endangered species. Adorably cute, you will fall in love with these little guys.

Madagascar’s location on a whale migration route is extremely special. One may catch these gentle giants pass through twice a year, visible from the coast. Marvel over the legion of humpback whales near Saint-Marie island birthing their calves or later in the year, the baby whales and their mothers are in the north-west.

For the botany enthusiasts, Madagascar is home to the largest baobab in the world, what the locals refer to as ‘mother of the forest’ in the Malagasy language. You can find almost all baobab species in the vast forests in semi-arid south.

Madagascar has a low influx of tourists and is essentially a hidden gem off the coast of Africa (regarded as a good hideout for pirates in the past due to its remoteness). The beachfronts are essentially untouched and completely secluded. If you are looking for a quiet island escape that brings you close to nature and wildlife, this is it.

A unique intervention of different cultures due to it’s location in the Indian Ocean; African, Indian, Arabic, French, & Indonesian influences. This ensures a huge variety of flavors and scrumptious cuisine offerings from a famous peanut dessert to deep flavors of Madagascan vanilla, garlic cloves, coconut, ginger and curry.
