Zanzibar is known for it’s historic ‘Stone Town’, with its winding narrow alleyways your senses are heightened as you explore the quaint streets. The attractive scent of the fresh street food: chapattis, samosas and roasting corn. Sights of colorful fruit displays, spice baskets, ancient buildings and wooden carved doors with the locals greeting you as you wander through.
Mnemba island is a well-known spot to go for diving & snorkeling. It is magical to swim here in the most extraordinary turquoise water surrounded by a myriad of fishes.
Spices once dominated the Zanzibar economy and thus we recommend a spice tour during your stay on the island. Explore the prosperous plantations that dot the island. Taste and smell variety of spices, herbs and fruits, including cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, jackfruit and lemongrass.
One of my favorite experiences is a dhow boat trip. A dhow is an old-world Swahili wooden, hand-crafted sailing boat operated by local experts. They are incredibly romantic and ideal for a sunset cruise.
There is a variety of accommodation available from 5-star resorts with secluded beaches to rustic, down to earth beachy villas. It is an easy destination to add to the end of your safari no matter what budget you are on. The weather is also consistent throughout the year, so anytime is a good time to visit.
